Apple Tree class is located in a double mobile classroom with a wealth of learning areas for the children to explore and create in. Our focus is learning through play which is called ‘choosing time’ and gives each child the chance to develop their interests, skills and knowledge. Every child is allocated a key person which changes over the three terms, but is highly valued and is an effective way of treating every child as an individual. Reading, writing and maths is taught every day to support children’s growing interest in the world around them. It is taught using a theme which is developed over time and captures children’s curiosity and imagination. The Society’s main objectives are to promote social activities, outdoor recreation and excursions for the Physically Disabled on the Isle of Wight and to do any other acts for the benefit of the Physically Disabled on the IOW which are of a charitable nature and to form Groups throughout the IOW to assist in carrying out these objectives. Pastor, Paul Ras, saw the need for a vibrant, community oriented, bible based, New Testament church in Cowes. His vision came to light in October 2008 when The Apex Church set sail. Northwood Women’s Institute was formed in January 1926 and met in the Church Hut until, in April 1931, the present Hall was opened. It has seen many changes inside and out over the years and most recently – additional parking spaces were created. Northwood W.I. meets on the first Thursday each month in their Hall, starting at 2pm. We have some very interesting speakers and demonstrations together with a competition. The Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club was established in 1952 by the late ‘Tiny’ Mitchell as a club for local yachtsmen. It has evolved largely through the voluntary labours of its members to become a popular venue for both racing and cruising yachtsmen. It is the only club in Cowes that can provide marina berths and shore side boat storage facilities to its members. It has an open, relaxed and very friendly atmosphere. Iconic Northwood House is set in beautiful Northwood Park in the heart of Cowes. The Estate has a rich history of hosting events and celebrations of all kinds.
