AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL

The Isle of Wight Amnesty Group was started by Derek Stirman in 1962. We are a friendly and committed group and meet in Newport on the first Friday of the month at 7.30pm. Supporters can also just work at home.
Aims
- Release of Prisoners of Conscience
- Fair trials for political prisoners
- An end to torture, unlawful killings and disappearances
- Fair treatment of all genders
- An end to the Death Penalty
- Fair treatment of refugees
Prisoners of Conscience are people who have been denied their freedom because of their political views, religion, ethnic origin or gender, provided they have not used or advocated the use of violence.

- Support publicity events
