Isle of Wight Festival 21st – 24th June, 2018. Starting the summer in style, the award winning Isle of Wight Festival takes place in June every year in the town of Newport and is steeped in history and recognised around the world for its amazing line-up, mixing legendary artists with the hottest up and coming acts. Kasabian, Liam Gallagher, Depeche Mode and The Killers will headline the Isle of Wight Festival 2018. The Script, Van Morrison, Blossoms and James Bay will also perform at the 50th anniversary festival, which takes place from June 21st to 24th at Seaclose Park, Newport. Admire the workmanship, enjoy the memories and expect to be surprised! Featuring an array of railway and road vehicles of all shapes and sizes. If you love cars and heritage transport this event is for you! Every vehicle on display is someone’s pride and joy … And this is also your chance to contribute to the Festival! Whether your car, bicycle, road engine, truck, wagon or old charabanc is a rare vintage marque, a smartly polished classic, or just an old banger, if it’s your pride and joy then come and display it at Havenstreet Station for the day! (All vehicles must be in the events field by 10am and remain there until 4pm). There will be a full, two-train service of steam trains reminiscent of Island transport in days gone by, and there’s a chance to explore our Train Story Discovery Centre and learn the story of our Victorian and Edwardian railway vehicles and their lasting impact on all our lives! To complete the weekend there will be live music from Jukebox Jazz and flying displays from Haven Falconry. The 2018 dates will be 30th May to 3rd June! We are making good progress on booking acts for 2018, and the lineup so far is very exciting. All will be revealed a bit later in the Autumn, and tickets will go on sale in January. The festival is going to follow a similar pattern to previous years but we have listened to audience feedback and will make a few minor tweaks here and there. Off Key Community Choir Do you enjoy singing your heart out in the shower but lack confidence in your voice? Would you like a place to go and sing with others who feel the same way? Well then this is the new singing group for you! Come and join our friendly, sociable and fun singing group aimed at people aged over 18 who think they can’t sing. As a group our song choices will be varied and interesting, from pop songs, to show tunes and more! If you are looking for a pick me up or something to shake off those wintery blues then come and get involved and start singing your stresses away. Running every Tuesday from 7th November, 6:30pm – 8:00pm at the Methodist Church, Regent Street, Shanklin. Only £1 a session. Free parking in Landguard Road car park after 6pm. All abilities welcome.
