Cowes Library has a friendly and experienced family historian offering one to one sessions to assist with growing your family tree. Whether just starting out or needing help with a family history mystery. Sessions are held in Cowes Library on Monday mornings at an hourly rate of £6.00. (If this is not convenient then speak to a member of staff who will try to arrange an alternative time.) You must book in advance by contacting Cowes Library on (01983) 293341.

Find yourself a spot on the sand and laugh out loud as you enjoy a traditional show of Punch & Judy on Osborne’s beach. Every day throughout August see Mr Punch and friends getting up to mischief. Have a go at the traditional Victorian games, enjoy a delicious locally made ice cream and go for a dip in the Solent. Don’t forget to visit Swiss Cottage where the royal children played at Osborne. Flag Making Workshop, exploring print and textiles at Cowes Library On Friday 3rd August 10.30am – 12.30pm Independent Arts will be running a Time and Tide Arts & Heritage Cafe. Participants can explore the the Isle of Wight’s rich maritime heritage from Royal Regattas to the growth of marine industries and the Island’s place at the centre of the sailing world, illustrated by images from the Dore photographic collection and loan items from the Classic Boat Museum. Using textile art staff will support participants to produce signal flags for display in their final exhibition.
