On 22 May in Dementia Week we will be hosting a coffee morning in support of The Alzheimer’s Society. As part of the event we are running a raffle in memory of Mark’s Mother who sadly recently passed away so please help us raise funds for this charity . Totland Parish Council are pleased to announce the 2019 Car Boot Sales on Colwell Common will continue and this year we will be working with the West Wight Nursery, 1st Freshwater & Totland Scouts, West Wight Sports & Community Centre and the West Wight Men in Sheds. The Car Boots will run EVERY SATURDAY except 29th June & 31st August. They will commence Saturday 6th April through to 28th September. If any of these events are cancelled we will make every attempt to make as many people aware the evening before, however, these events are subject to the weather and therefore cancellation may not be possible until the morning of event. Please check our Facebook site for up to date information. Sellers from 8.30am, Buyers from 9.00am. (midday finish – weather permitting) No need to book – just turn up. The 2019 event will run from Saturday 25th May to Saturday 1st June. More details about this year’s festival soon. We have been running our famous festival since 2010 (When we won The Beautiful South GOLD Award) The Scarecrows (or “Gallybaggers” as we call them round these parts) include a diverse range of creations that amuse and amaze! Our festival raises money for local causes such as the upkeep of the village hall, equipment for the allotment group and the Church at Gatcombe. Come and join us at the annual Bembridge Summer Festival in Steyne Park on Saturday 22nd June for a packed day of entertainment. We’ll be holding our annual Fun Dog Show with a cash prize of £100 for the Best In Show, there will be stalls, exhibitions, lots of food, drink and hopefully sunshine! Haven Falconry will be displaying their birds of prey and the IOW Donkey Sanctuary will be joining us for the afternoon. Ryde Extreme Performers will be holding a circus skills workshop and in the arena we have the incredible Enchanted Isle’s Greatest Show! Entry to Bembridge Summer Festival is FREE but we are asking if people would be kind enough to make a donation on the gate as all monies raised goes to local charity Bembridge Youth and Community Centre. Here we go again…… Godshill Village Fete is back for 2019 folks! Saturday 20th July is the date! 11am-5pm, Godshill Central Mead! Same rules apply as usual, all stall holders MUST have their own public liability insurance. You must provide your own table and gazebo’s are advisable. Standard (craft pitches) – £15 Catering pitches – £25 Pitches 10ft by 10ft. Fees for multiple pitches negotiable! Funds will be split between Mountbatten and the Godshill Village Hall appeal this year, in light of the incredible care Mountbatten provided to my late Nan last year. Amusements are already organised, no bouncy castles etc required. We are also looking for entertainers, raffle prizes, refreshment donations, people to provide classes/sessions on various things and volunteers! The Solent Swim is one of the main fundraising events for West Wight Sports & Community Centre, which receives no funding from local government and is a registered charity. Are you up for the challenge of swimming from Hurst Castle to Colwell Bay? Raise funds for a great local resource while taking part in an unforgettable experience. As well as swimmers we need kayakers and ribs to act as support for our swimmers.
